Great Lakes Management Group is a Wisconsin owned and operated hotel Development and Management Company. Its President Neil Densmore formed the company in 1997. Neil, a Certified Hotel Administrator, has 25 years of direct hotel management experience. His background encompasses an extensive hotel career in full service, limited service and resort properties, which include: Hilton Brands, Choice Hotels International Brands, and IHG Brands. During his tenure at these facilities, Neil gained first hand knowledge of all aspects of hotel management including food and beverage, convention services, sales, maintenance, revenue / yield management, reservations, front office and general hotel operations. Neil is a past Board Member of the International Operators Council of Choice Hotels, Past Chair of Choice Hotels International’s Wisconsin Marketing Cooperative and Past Chairman of Choice Hotels International’s Education Committee.
Mavis Dare, Vice President of Hotel Sales and Marketing joined the Great Lakes family in 2002. Mavis oversees the sales and marketing for all properties in Iowa and Wisconsin. Based out of Moline, Illinois, Mavis is able to provide the “hands-on” attention to these properties for which Great Lakes Management group is known. She is instrumental in coordinating sales efforts, attending motor coach shows, and following up on the ongoing sales process at the properties. Mavis has over 18 years of hotel management experience in both full-service and limited-service properties. Her full service experiences included the management of onsite restaurants, lounges and conference facilities in addition to the typical rooms division. Mavis is Past Chairperson of the Choice Hotels Marketing Cooperative for Iowa, serves on the Advisory Board for the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau and serves on the Advisory Board for the Quad Cities Lodging Association.
Randy Haynes joined Great Lakes Management group in 2004 as the company’s Vice President of Hotel Operations overseeing all properties. Randy, a Certified Hotel Administrator, has 22 years of hotel experience as a Corporate Controller and General Manager of full service hotels, which include Hilton, Holiday Inn and Renaissance. His extensive experience provides Great Lakes Management hotels expertise in all aspects of the hotel business; sales, finance, revenue management, food and beverage and guest service. He has previously been on the board of the Iowa and Montana state hotel associations and has served board positions of various cities Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
Great Lakes Management Group currently operates thirteen hotels with one additional property under construction. They include seven properties in Wisconsin and six in Iowa. The specific hotel’s are: Candlewood Suites – Madison, WI;
Quality Inn & Suites – Madison, WI; MainStay Suites – Oak Creek, WI; Comfort Suites - Hayward, WI; Comfort Inn -Plover, WI; Hampton Inn – Plover, WI; Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Verona, WI; Sleep Inn & Suites – North Liberty, IA; Comfort Inn – Story City, IA; Sleep Inn & Suites - Mt. Vernon, IA; MainStay Suites – Cedar Rapids, IA; Holiday Inn Express – Le Claire, IA; and the Sleep Inn & Suites – Council Bluffs, IA.
The new Hampton Inn in Beloit, WI will soon be under construction scheduled to open in summer 2009. Great Lakes Management Group is very active in the daily operations of all managed hotels to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction. Additionally, ongoing reviews of each hotel’s sales efforts, yield management, finances / accounting, reservation system / process, housekeeping, maintenance and staffing are conducted to optimize return on investment. Neil, Mavis, and Randy proactively monitor and evaluate competitors in each market, conduct sales calls, generate sales leads, complete sales and marketing plans, manage marketing campaigns, maintain licensing and compliance, and all other related aspects of hotel management.
